Gwar Fali Dhokli is a delicious one-pot meal.

Gwar Fali Dhokli is a famous meal from Rajasthan and some parts of Gujarat. It is basically a spicy flour dumpling cooked with cluster beans and different spices that enhances the taste of the dish.  In order to prepare the dough, we require ingredients like whole wheat flour, gram flour, oil, and some spices. It is a very simple meal to prepare as it does not require any elaborate preparations. This meal is also a quick recipe as it does not consume much of your time. Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING THE DOUGH-
  • Gehu ka atta/ Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Besan/ Gram flour - 1/4 cup
  • Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Laal mirch powder/ Red chilli powder - as per taste
  • Dhaniya powder/ Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Jeera powder/ Cumin seeds powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garam masala/ All-spice mix - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Jeera/ Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Hing/ Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Adrak-Hari mirch paste/ Ginger-Green chilli paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Water - as required
  • FOR PREPARING THE FALI DHOKLI-
  • Oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Jeera/ Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Hing/ Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Curry patta/ Curry leaves - 6 to 7
  • Tamatar/ Tomato - 2 grated
  • Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Laal mirch powder/ Red chilli powder - as per taste
  • Dhaniya powder/ Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Jeera powder/ Cumin seeds powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garam masala/ All-spice mix - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Gwar fali/ Cluster beans - 1 cup chopped
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Kasuri methi/ Dry fenugreek leaves - 1/4 teaspoon crushed
  • Dhaniya patta/ Coriander leaves - a handful finely chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add whole wheat flour, gram flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, cumin seeds powder, garam masala, cumin seeds, asafoetida, 1 tablespoon oil, and ginger-green chilli paste in it and mix them well. Add water in small amounts and knead it well to make a smooth dough.
  2. Take small portion of the dough and make it into a ball. Flatten it and make small indentation in the centre.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan and place the dough balls on it. Let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes from both the sides.
  4. In a pressure cooker, add ghee, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, and tomato in it and mix them well.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds powder, garam masala, and salt to the pan and cook them well.
  6. Add cluster beans in the cooker and mix them well.
  7. Add the cooked dhokli in the cooker and mix them well with the other ingredients.
  8. Add water to the pan and mix it well. Add dry fenugreek leaves and coriander leaves to the cooker and mix them well.
  9. Once it starts boiling, close the cooker with the lid and cook it for 1 whistle on high flame and 2 to 3 whistles on medium flame.
  10. 'Gwar Fali Dhokli' is ready to be served.
