Do you know ‘How to Make Dahi | How to Make Curd’ at home? This super easy and very simple method to set curd at home. You can easily prepare curd at home using any type of milk. There are many recipes which require curd. By making fresh curd at home, you can easily prepare the other recipes like Dahi Bhalla or any curd based gravy or some sweets like Shrikhand at home. So, follow these simple tips to prepare curd at home and let us know your feedback.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Depending on the weather, the time will vary to set the curd. In winters, it will take more time to set. To set the curd in winters you can keep the vessel in the cupboard or in the microwave or covered with a woollen cloth overnight.
  • Keep the vessels of milk to set the curd separately for different types of purpose like to make kadhi or chaas.
  • Make Strawberry Shrikhand using homemade curd.

Ingredients

  • Milk - 2 Litre
  • Curd - 3 to 4 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take a big vessel, put the previously boiled milk. If it is warm then it is ready to use. Else heat the milk to lukewarm it. Put a finger to test the milk, if it is warm and heat is bearable then the milk is ready to set.
  2. Take a bowl and add curd and whisk it. Mix little milk in curd. Transfer the mixture in remaining milk. Whisk it with a hand blender or a whisker.
  3. Transfer the milk in small vessels if you want to make kadhi or chaas out the curd.
  4. Cover the vessels and keep it aside for 7 to 12 hours. If it is summer then it will take less time to set the curd.
  5. In winter season, keep the vessels in wooolen clothes. It will take more time to set the curd in winters.
  6. Once set, keep the dahi/curd in the refrigerator.
  7. Homemade Curd/Dahi is ready to be used.

    Hi I am in Canada and it’s difficult to make curd at home not only in extreme cold weather but also in springs/ summer .

    Need suggestion how we can make it at home .
