Hummus | Roasted Red Pepper Hummus is a famous middle eastern and Mediterranean spread, a dip made from mashed chickpeas.

Hummus | Roasted Red Pepper Hummus is a famous dip loved by all worldwide. It is a very light and tasty nutritious dip. This dip is loaded with protein and calcium that is very simple and easy to make. Hummus is wonderful as a dip for crispy vegetables, crackers, nachos, etc. It can also be served in parties as an accomplishment for starters. It basically requires chickpeas as the main ingredient along with lemon and garlic. However, here we have given traditional hummus an Indian twist by adding some spices and capsicum. Enjoy this with family and friends and give us your valuable feedback.

Tips and Suggestions by  Mom Chef:-

  • Glaze /grease the bell pepper in oil before roasting so it doesn’t get burnt.
  • You can roast the red bell pepper on the direct flame or in the oven.
  • It can be served with carrots, cucumbers, Nachos | Multigrain Nachos, chips.

Ingredients

  • Chickpeas/kabuli chana - 1 cup boiled until soft along with little water.
  • Garlic/Lasoon - 2 pods
  • Lemon juice - 1/2 lemon
  • Sesame seeds / Til - 1 Tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 Tablespoon.
  • Salt - as per taste.
  • Red Chilli flakes - as per taste.
  • Red bell pepper - 1 Big

Instructions

  1. Glaze the bell pepper with oil and roast it on gas OR cut the bell pepper into pieces and roast it on tawa . Alternatively , you can put it in an oven and roast it until it becomes black at the bottom.
  2. Once done.Peel the skin of the bell pepper.Keep it aside.
  3. Wash and soak the chickpeas/kabuli chana overnight .Cook it in a cooker until soft.
  4. In a blender jar put chickpea / kabuli chana along with its water , seasame seeds/til, garlic ,roasted bell pepper (keep aside some for garnishing) , lemon juice and salt. Blend well.
  5. Then add olive oil and blend it again.
  6. Add Red chilli flakes and blend it into a smooth paste.
  7. Transfer it into a bowl and garnish it with roasted cut bell pepper,olive oil and red chilli flakes.
  8. Hummus | Roasted Red Pepper Hummus is ready to serve as a dip.
