Hyderabadi Toast is a very popular snack from the streets for Hyderabad.

Hyderabadi Toast is a mouthwatering snack. This is crispy in texture and full of flavours as this is served with different kinds of chutney. This uses bread potato, some spices. Generally, it is deep-fried but in this recipe, the toast is shallow fried. You can easily make this toast with easily available ingredients in the kitchen. Moreover, this does not require much preparation and time if you have boiled potatoes and chutneys ready. You can make this snack on weekends for your family or for guests. So, try to make this popular street food at home and enjoy with your loved ones.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Add salt to the potato mixture after mixing all the ingredients. Else, the mixture leaves the water.
  • Cook the toast on a medium flame only. First, cook the potato side.

Ingredients

  • Bread - 2 Slices
  • Boiled potato - - 2 mashed
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Amchur/Dry Mango powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Chaat Masala - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Coriander Leaves - 1 Teaspoon chopped
  • Oil - as required for shallow frying
  • Maida/Refined flour - 3 Teaspoon mixed with water to make slurry
  • INGREDIENTS FOR SERVING:-
  • Garlic Chutney - as required
  • Green Chutney - as required
  • Sweet Tamarind Chutney - as required
  • Namkeen Sev - as required
  • Coriander Leaves - for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl and add mashed boiled potato, garam masala, dry mango powder, chaat masala, red chilli powder. Mix well. Add salt and mix well. Then add coriander leaves and mix well.
  2. Cut the bread slices into triangular shape. Spread the potato mixture on it.
  3. Meanwhile, heat oil for shallow frying.
  4. Make slurry of refined flour and water. Dip the toast in the slurry and coat it well.
  5. Shallow fry the toast on a medium flame from both the sides until golden brown. Once done, take it out on serving plate.
  6. SERVING:- Tip the toast with garlic chutney, green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney and sev. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  7. Delicious 'Hyderabadi Toast' is ready to be served.
