Jalebi is a delicious and all time North Indian dessert which is very famous and a must eat for everyone including kids.

Jalebi is a popular festive sweet, almost made in all occasions and celebrations. It is a dessert crispy and deep fried in refined flour and yogurt batter spirals dunked in saffron sugar syrup.

Ingredients

  • Urad daal - 1 cup
  • Rice - 1/4 cup
  • Orange food colour - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 cup
  • Sugar - 2 cup
  • Lemon slices - 2

Instructions

  1. Soak urad daal and rice for 5 to 6 hours and blend it in fine paste.
  2. To the daal and rice batter add food color and mix it well, then take a plastic sheet make a cone and fill the batter in it. Seal the cone with rubber band so that the batter doesn't spill out.
  3. Take a pan, add sugar and 2 and half cups water. Cook for 5 minutes & then add lemon slices so that the syrup won't crystallize . The syrup should have a consistency of one string.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and pour the batter into the oil in circular motion to form jalabis , fry till the jalebis turn golden brown and crispy.
  5. Soak the jalebis in sugar syrup and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  6. Jalebi is ready to serve with curd and sprinkled pomegranate seeds.
