Karele Ki Sabzi is a delicious and very healthy dish for all.

Karele Ki Sabzi is a mouthwatering sabzi which does not taste bitter. It tastes super tasty with roti, paratha even with dal and rice. It is very easy to prepare too. Most of the people don’t like to eat this superfood because of its bitter taste. But this sabzi is cooked in that way it does not taste bitter at all. This is very healthy sabzi good for all. As we know bitter gourd is good for diabetics. It helps to control sugar level. You must make this sabzi once and you will fall in love with sabzi. So, try to make this sabzi at home and enjoy with your loved ones.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • By cooking the bitter gourd with salt removes the bitterness.
  • Add dry mango powder, it also helps to remove bitterness.
  • Remove the seeds of bitter gourd if you want.
  • You can use any vegetable oil to make this sabzi.

Ingredients

  • Karela/Bitter Gourd - 500 Gram
  • Salt - 4 Teaspoon + as per taste
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida/Hing - a pinch
  • Fennel Seeds/Saunf - 1 Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon or as per taste
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 3 Teaspoon
  • Amchur/Dry Mango Powder - 1 & 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the bitter gourd. Cut into smaller pieces. Remove the seeds if you want.
  2. Take a Pressure cooker and 1 glass water, 4 teaspoon salt and bitter gourd. Cook it for 1 whistle. Then let it cool.
  3. Wash the cooked bitter gourd pieces with water and squeeze the water completely.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and asafoetida.
  5. Add cooked bitter gourd pieces. Saute it for couple of minutes,
  6. Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, dry mango powder and little salt. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes. Switch off the gas.
  7. Delicious 'Karele Ki Sabzi' is ready to be served.
