Masala Oats Thepla is a spicy dish. Thepla is a famous and typical Gujarati cuisine. The methi thepla is the most savored breakfast dish. This recipe is a twist to the regular thepla preparation. Adding the masala oats in flour form makes it more delicious and yummy in taste. Ingredients

  • Masala oats- 1 cup
  • Wheat flour - 2 cups
  • Adrak-lehsun/Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Jeera/Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lal Mirch Powder/Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Haldi powder/Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Jeera/Cumin seeds powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ajwain/Carom seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Saunf/Fennel seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dahi/Curd - 2 tablespoon
  • Water - as required to make dough
  • Hari Mirch/Green chilies - 1 no (chopped)
  • Oil - 2 tablespoon for dough
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - as req for cooking theplas

Instructions

  1. Grind the oats in a mixer to fine powder. Take a bowl and put wheat flour, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds powder, salt to taste, carom seeds and fennel seeds, chopped green chilies and mix well.
  2. Then add curd , oil and ginger garlic paste to the bowl. Knead a soft dough with the help of little water and then cover it . Set aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Now make small balls from the dough. Roll round shaped medium size theplas. Apply ghee and cook from both sides on a pan and serve warm.
  4. The Masala Oats Thepla is ready to serve with green chutney and curd.
