Masala Popcorn is one of the buttery, a salty, crunchy, and mouthwatering recipes for everyone, mostly kids.

Masala popcorn is so easy, quick, simple, and low-mess. You really don’t need all of the pre-made options. Hot, buttery, salty, crunchy popcorn is as much a part of the cinema experience as the movie itself.  However, there are several different options for getting the popped goodness if you love popcorn for a movie or game night at home. Purified butter/Ghee gives you a clean, rich, buttery flavor. Instead of ghee, we can use oil also. You can make your own ghee/clarified butter at home. You can season the popcorn as per your taste and flavors you like. Try this recipe at home and enjoy it with family and friends. And let us know your feedback in the comment section.

Ingredients

  • Ghee/ Purified butter - 1 teaspoon
  • Corn kernels/ Makai dana - 1/2 small bowl
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon or as per taste
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder- a pinch
  • Peri peri - 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee(purified butter) in pressure cooker on medium flame. Allow ghee to melt.
  2. Add corn kernels into the cooker.
  3. Add salt and saute it continuously till the corn kernels starts to pop.
  4. Remove whistle and ring of the cover or lid of the pressure cooker.
  5. As soon as the corn kernel starts to pop, cover the pressure cooker with the lid.
  6. Keep the flame high. Now you can hear the popping sound.
  7. As the sound stops, off the flame.
  8. After 1 or 2 mins, open the lid. If you open it immediately , you can get hurt from the hot popping popcorn.
  9. Now take it in a bowl and sprinkle peri peri over it.
  10. Season the popcorn while it is still hot. The steam from the freshly popped kernels and the warm purified butter will help the peri peri stick.
  11. Delicious Masala Popcorn is ready to be served.
