Matar Tikki | Green Peas Tikki is a savoury mouthwatering snack for all.

Matar Tikki | Green Peas Tikki is a yummylicious snack for tea-time. This requires green peas, bread crumbs, potato, onion and some spices. This is very easy yet a yummy snack. You can make this snack for any party or get together as well as it is a good tiffing snack. This is an instant appetizer you can make for your family members. They will enjoy this snack very much. So, try to make this tikki at home and enjoy with your family members.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Instead of shallow frying, you can make this tikki in an appe pan.
  • If you are making this tikki for kids then skip the green chillies.
  • Add salt and black pepper powder to the mixture after mixing all the ingredients. Else the veggies release its water and tikki will not form.
  • Binding is most important to make tikki. You can use bread crumbs, oats, sooji/semolina as a binding agent.
  • For making bread crumbs, grind the bread coarsely.

Ingredients

  • Matar/Green Peas - 200 Gram
  • Potato - 2 medium sized boiled
  • Onion - 2 medium sized
  • Bread Crumbs - Crumb of 3 bread
  • Green Chilli - 2 to 3 finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch peas grated
  • Amchur/Dry Mango Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala/All spice Mix - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Black Pepper Powder - as per taste
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - as required for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and strain the green peas. Coarsely grind the green peas. Transfer to a bowl.
  2. Make the bread crumbs as well.
  3. Take a bowl, add ground green peas, grated boiled potato, bread crumbs, onion, finely chopped green chilli, red chilli powder, coriander leaves, dry mango powder, grated ginger, garam masala. Mix well.
  4. Add salt and black pepper powder to the mixture. Mix well.
  5. Make small round shape tikkis out the mixture.
  6. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan for shallow frying.
  7. Shallow fry the tikkis on a medium-low flame. Once it turn nice golden brown from one side then flip it and cook from another side.
  8. When cooked take them out an a plate.
  9. Garnish it with tomato ketchup and green peas.
  10. Yummy 'Matar Tikki | Green Peas Tikki' is read to be served.
