Mirchi Vada | Aloo Mirchi Bhajji is a spicy stuffed snack.

Mirchi Vada | Aloo Mirchi Bhajji is a popular rainy season special appetizer. It is a simple and easy appetizer. You can prepare this dish with a few ingredients like big green chilli, potato, gram flour, rice flour, and some spices. This type of snack is the most eatable snack during the monsoon season with a hot cup of tea or green chutney. This is a quick evening snack with minimum ingredients. Ingredients

  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 2 to 3 Big sized
  • Oil - For frying
  • FOR PREPARING POTATO STUFFING :
  • Boiled potato / Aloo - 2 Peeled and mashed
  • Black salt / Kala namak - 1/2 tsp
  • Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Dry mango powder / Aamchur - 1/2 tsp
  • Fennel seeds / Saunf - 1 tsp crushed
  • Black pepper powder / Kali mirch - 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger-garlic paste / Adarak-lahsun paste - 1 tsp
  • Dry fenugreek leaves / Kasuri methi - 1 tsp
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1 tsp
  • All spice mix powder / Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder / Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • FOR PREPARING GRAM FLOUR BATTER :
  • Gram flour / Besan - 1 Cup
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder / Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Carom seeds / Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
  • Rice flour / Chawal ka aata - 2 tsp
  • Water - As required
  • tsp = teaspoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING POTATO STUFFING :
  2. Take boiled potato in a bowl. Add black salt, chaat masala, dry mango powder, crushed fennel seeds, black pepper powder, ginger-garlic paste, dry fenugreek leaves by rubbing between your palms, salt, red chilli powder, all spice mix powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and coriander leaves. Mix well.
  3. FOR PREPARING GRAM FLOUR BATTER :
  4. Take gram flour in a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, carom seeds by rubbing between your palms, and rice flour. Mix well. Then add water gradually and prepare a lumps-free medium thick consistency batter. Keep it aside.
  5. FOR PREPARING MIRCHI VADA :
  6. Take big green chilli. Make a vertical slit from the top to the bottom in each chilli. Remove its seeds. Now, stuff the prepared potato stuffing in the mirch.
  7. Then coat the mirch's outer side with potato stuffing. Likewise, prepare all mirch.
  8. Meanwhile, heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame. When the oil is medium hot, dip the stuffed mirchi in the prepared batter, and coat it evenly using a spoon.
  9. Place it gently into the hot oil, when the top surface turns light golden brown, flip them using a slotted spoon.
  10. Deep fry them until crispy and light golden brown from both sides, on medium flame. Once done, take them out to a serving plate using a slotted spoon.
  11. 'Mirchi Vada | Aloo Mirchi Bhajji' is ready to be served with green chilli.
