Moong Dal Uttapam is a unique and mouth-watering uttapam recipe.

Moong Dal Uttapam is a wholesome and healthy uttapam prepared from soaked and ground moong dal. It is an easy breakfast recipe that does not require fermentation and can be prepared instantly. It is healthy, tasty, and a good source of protein. Add more and more veggies to make it more nutritious. Relish it with chutney or tomato ketchup or pickle.   • You can prepare the uttapam of your desired shape and size.
  • You can also add spinach and other veggies of your choice.
  • Wash properly and soak moong dal for 2 hours.
  • Cook the uttapam on a low flame.
  • You can also prepare batter at night and store it in the fridge and can use it to the next day.
  • Adjust the spices and serve it hot for a better taste.

Ingredients

  • Moong dal/ yellow lentils - 1 cup
  • Water - as required
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - as required
  • Ghee/ clarified butter - as required
  • Onion - as required finely chopped
  • Tomato - as required finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - as required finely chopped
  • Red chili powder - as required
  • Chaat masala - as required

Instructions

  1. Wash moong dal properly and soak it for 2 hours.
  2. Wash it again and grind it to a medium consistency batter. Add some water, if needed.
  3. Then, add turmeric powder and salt. Mix it properly.
  4. Now, heat a pan and add some ghee. Take a ladleful of the batter and spread it in a small circular shape.
  5. Top it with some onion, tomato, and coriander leaves.
  6. Sprinkle some red chili powder and chaat masala.
  7. Apply some ghee and press it gently. Allow it to cook for 1 to 2 minutes on a low flame.
  8. Flip and press it gently. Allow it to cook properly from both sides.
  9. Delicious Moong Dal Uttapam is ready to be served.
