Moong Dal Vada | Mung Dal Vada is a protein-rich tea time snack.

Moong Dal Vada | Mung Dal Vada is a healthy and spicy appetizer. You just need moong dal, whole wheat flour, ginger, green chilli, and some spices. You can eat it as a snack with your evening tea or as a healthy meal. Moreover, everyone loves to eat it. Ingredients

  • Yellow lentils / Moong dal - 1 Cup
  • Water - As required
  • Ginger / Adarak - 1 Inch
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 2 Chopped
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirchi powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander seeds / Sabut dhaniya - 1 tsp Coarsely ground
  • Fennel seeds / Saunf - 1 tsp Coarsely ground
  • Asafoetida / Hing - A pinch
  • Whole wheat flour / Gehu ka aata - 1 tsp
  • Hot oil - 2 tsp + For frying
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak moong dal for 3 hours. Then strain the moong dal and transfer it to a grinding jar. Add green chilli and ginger. Coarsely grind it and prepare medium-thick consistency batter.
  2. Take it out to bowl. Now add salt, red chilli powder, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, asafoetida, and whole wheat flour. Mix well.
  3. Then add 2 tsp hot oil and mix well. Whisk it for a few seconds.
  4. Meanwhile, heat oil in a deep frying pan over a high flame. Keep a slotted spoon in the oil.
  5. Now take the wet cloth. Take a small ball-sized batter. Spread it on the wet cloth using your fingers to prepare the vada.
  6. Now take a slotted spoon from hot oil. Flip the prepared vada on it and remove the wet cloth. Place slotted spoon gently into the hot oil.
  7. Likewise prepare all vadas. Water should be applied on a wet cloth each and every time while preparing vada on it.
  8. Fry it on a high flame until it turns golden brown from both sides. Once done, Take it out on a serving plate.
  9. 'Moong Dal Vada | Mung Dal Vada' is ready to be served.
