Paddu | Kuzhi Paniyaram is a delicious snack and breakfast for all.

Paddu | Kuzhi Paniyaram is an instant recipe which is mouthwatering as well. This requires semolina/rava, curd, carrot, capsicum, onion, green chillies. This is a quick and easy breakfast option for busy mornings. This has different names like Appe, paniyaram, GuLiyappa, Yeriyappa, Gunta Ponganalu. This goes well with peanut chutney or coconut chutney. This is a very easy breakfast item perfect for tiffin or evening snack. So, try to make this instant recipe and let us know how you liked it.

This tasty chutney was prepared by Roopa Naikji from Shimoga, Karnataka ( a visually challenged mom with 40 per cent of eyesight).

Tips and Suggestions by the Chef:-

  • Serve this paddu with Peanut Chutney | Mungfali Chutney
  • You can use veggies as per the availability and choice.
  • Using a little sour curd will give a nice taste to the dish.
  • Use fruit salt (eno) instead of baking soda if you want.
  • Keep aside the batter for rest. Add baking soda and immediately use the batter to make paddu.

Ingredients

  • Chiroti Rava/Semolina - 1 Cup
  • Sour Curd - 1 Cup
  • Onion - 1/2 finely chopped
  • Green Chilli - 2 finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - 2 Tablespoon
  • Carrot - 2 Tablespoon grated
  • Capsicum - 1 to 2 Tablespoon (optional)
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Jeera/Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Chana Dal/Bengal Gram - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Urad Dal/Black Gram without skin - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Baking soda - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 to 3 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Take a pan, add 1 teaspoon oil and heat it.
  2. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  3. Add curry leaves, onion and green chilli. Add little salt and saute it for 1 to 2 minutes. Then add capsicum and saute it for 2 minutes. Then switch off the gas.
  4. Add semolina and mix well. Then add curd and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add salt as per the taste. Add a cup of water. Mix well. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
  6. After 10 minutes, add soda to the batter.
  7. Meanwhile, heat an paddu/appe pan. Grease it with oil.
  8. Pour the batter in each cavity. Cook the paddu by covering with a lid on a low flame.
  9. Once they turn nice golden brown, flip it and cook from another side. When done, take them out on a plate.
  10. Yummy 'Paddu | Kuzhi Paniyaram' is ready to be served with peanut chutney.
