Palak Dosa With Tomato Chutney is the perfect one-dish meal containing all the required nutrients. This is an iron, calcium, and protein-rich meal combo. Thus, it is an ideal meal for vegetarians. In addition, dosa is soft and healthy as it has spinach and moong dal. It tastes great with spicy, sweet, and savory tomato chutney. Sesame seeds add a nice flavor and texture to the tomato chutney.   • Rub potato or onion slice on the iron tawa before making dosa on it.
  • Cook dosa from one side only.
  • If making dosa on non-stick tawa you can cook it from another side.

Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING TOMATO CHUTNEY :
  • Sesame seeds / Til - 1/4 Cup
  • Tomato / Tamatar - 5 Chopped
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 2
  • Oil - 2 Teaspoons
  • Mustard seeds / Rai - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida / Hing - A pinch
  • Curry leaves / Curry patta - A few
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Coriander powder / Dhaniya powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Jaggery / Gud - 1 Teaspoon
  • All spice mix powder / Garam masala - 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - For garnishing
  • FOR PREPARING PALAK DOSA :
  • Yellow lentils / Moong dal - 1 cup
  • Water - As required
  • Spinach / Palak - A bunch chopped
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 2 to 3
  • Ginger / Adrakh - 1 Inch chopped
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Clarified butter / Ghee - As required
  • Potato / Aloo - 1/2 Sliced

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING TOMATO CHUTNEY :
  2. Roast sesame seeds in a pan for 2 to 3 minutes on low flame. Let it cool down. Then grind it to prepare its powder. Keep it aside.
  3. Take tomato and green chilli in a grinding jar. Grind it and prepare its puree. Keep it aside.
  4. Now heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Mix well. Then add prepared tomato puree.
  5. Boil it for 2 to 3 minutes on medium flame. Then add salt, coriander powder, jaggery, and all spice mix powder. Mix well.
  6. Now cover the pan with a lid and cook it for 1 to 2 minutes. Now add ground sesame seeds. Mix well.
  7. Once done, garnish it with coriander leaves. Take it out to a serving bowl.
  8. FOR PREPARING PALAK DOSA :
  9. Wash & soak moong dal for 60 minutes.
  10. Take soaked moong dal in a grinding jar. Add spinach, green chilli, ginger, and cumin seeds. Grind it and prepare the batter. Then transfer it to a bowl. Add salt. Mix well.
  11. FOR PREPARING DOSA ON NONSTICK TAWA :
  12. Heat the tawa on a medium to low flame. Before making dosa wipe the tawa with a cloth to spread dosa evenly.
  13. Pour the batter on tawa to make dosa. Pour some ghee on top.
  14. Cook it on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Once done, take it out to a serving plate. You can cook it from another side if you want.
  15. FOR PREPARING DOSA ON IRON TAWA :
  16. Heat the tawa on a medium to low flame. Before making dosa wipe the tawa with a cloth to spread dosa evenly.
  17. Rub potato slice on the tawa before making dosa on it. Now pour the batter on tawa to make dosa. Pour some ghee on top.
  18. Cover the pan with a lid and cook it on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Cook dosa from one side only. Once done, take it out to a serving plate.
  19. 'Palak Dosa With Tomato Chutney' is ready to be served.
