Paneer Cafreal is a mouthwatering appetizer from Goan Cuisine. 

Paneer Cafreal is a lip-smacking appetizer and snack for everyone. This is a popular appetizer in Goa which has a unique flavour. The paneer/cottage cheese cubes are coated with cafreal paste then coated and shallow fried. This is a healthy and tasty snack. Everyone will love this new snack item. This has crispy texture from outside and it is soft from inside. Moreover, this is quick and easy to prepare with easily available ingredients. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Adjust the spiciness according to your taste.
  • Do not add water to make cafreal paste/coriander paste. Else it will be watery and will not coat the paneer cubes properly.
  • Shallow fry the paneer cubes on a low-medium flame for the perfect texture.
  • Make this yummy snack with homemade paneer.

Ingredients

  • Paneer/Cottage Cheese Cubes - 200 Gram
  • Rice flour - 1/2 Cup
  • Semolina/sooji - 1/2 Cup
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 2 Teaspoon or as required for shallow frying
  • INGREDIENTS FOR CAFREAL PASTE:-
  • Coriander leaves - a bunch
  • Green Chilli - 2 to 3
  • Garlic - 8 cloves
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
  • Cumin seeds/jeera - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Black pepper corns - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Saunf/Fennel Seeds - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Laung/Cloves - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Haldi/Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Sugar - as per taste
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 to 2 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. PREPARING THE CAFREAL PASTE:- Take a grinder jar and add coriander leaves, green chillies, ginger, garlic, cumin sees, fennel seeds, black pepper corn, cloves, turmeric powder, salt, sugar and lemon juice. Grind it to make thick paste.
  2. Take paneer cubes and coat them with the cafreal paste well with the hands.
  3. Now, take a plate. Add rice flour, semolina and salt. Mix well. Coat the paneer cubes with this mixture.
  4. Meanwhile, heat oil for shallow frying in a pan.
  5. Shallow fry the paneer cubes on a medium-low flame. Flip the paneer cubes once they turn nice golden brown one side. Once shallow fried, take them out on a serving plate.
  6. Delicious 'Paneer Cafreal' is ready to be served.

    Very Nice. Please add more Maharashtrian/Goan recipes . We love Maharashtrian/Goan recipes. We find Marathi food more healthy.
