Poha Chivda | Namkeen is a spicy dry snack.

Poha Chivda | Namkeen is made with flattened rice, peanuts, curry leaves, and other spices. It is popularly consumed as an evening snack with a cup of tea or coffee. Moreover, it is simple and easy to prepare and easily lasts longer for couple of weeks.   • The oil should be hot enough for frying the poha, otherwise, poha will absorb the oil.
  • You can dry roast poha instead of frying it.
  • You can store the dry masala for a week in an airtight container.

Ingredients

  • Flattened rice / Poha - 1 Cup
  • Oil - For frying
  • Peanuts / Mungfali - 1 Cup
  • Curry leaves / Curry patta - A few
  • Cumin seeds powder / Jeera powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder / Kali mirch powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Dry mango powder / Aamchur powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Powdered sugar - 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirchi powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • FOR PREPARING POHA CHIVDA CHAAT :
  • Onion / Pyaz - 1 Tablespoon finely chopped
  • Tomato / Tamatar - 1 Tablespoon finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • Lemon juice / Nimbu ka ras - Of 1/2 Lemon

Instructions

  1. FOR FRYING POHA :
  2. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame. When the oil is medium hot, fry the poha using a sieve.
  3. Fry it by stirring the sieve occasionally on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Deep fry them until turns crispy.
  4. Once done, take it out to tissue paper to remove excess oil. Keep it aside.
  5. FOR FRYING PEANUTS :
  6. Fry peanuts in a sieve. Fry it by stirring the sieve occasionally on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. Once done, take it out to tissue paper to remove excess oil. Keep it aside.
  8. FOR FRYING CURRY LEAVES :
  9. Take curry leaves in a sieve. Fry it for 10 to 15 seconds. Then take it out.
  10. FOR PREPARING DRY MASALA :
  11. Take cumin seeds powder, black pepper powder, dry mango powder, powdered sugar, salt, and red chilli powder in a bowl. Mix well. Keep it aside.
  12. FOR PREPARING POHA CHIVDA :
  13. Take fried poha in a bowl. Add prepared dry masala, fried peanuts, and curry leaves in a bowl. Mix well.
  14. 'Poha Chivda | Namkeen' is ready to be served.
  15. SERVING SUGGESTIONS :
  16. Take poha chivda in a bowl. Add onion, tomato, coriander leaves, and lemon juice. Mix well. 'Poha Chivda Chaat' is ready to be served.
