Ragda Chaat | Mumbai Street Food Chaat is a wonderful treat for snacks.

Ragda Chaat | Mumbai Street Food Chaat is a very famous roadside food of Mumbai. Chaat holds a very huge fan among all the other street foods. The main ingredient is dried white peas. It also contains boiled potatoes, tomatoes, coriander leaves, and some spices. It is easy to make with easily available ingredients. Everyone in your family will enjoy this chaat. Parents can fearlessly feed it to kids as it is homemade with no artificial flavors added to it. Moreover, it is an effortless snack. It is a mouthwatering snack. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • You can use homemade green coriander chutney and sweet dates/khajoor chutney.
  • If you do not have sweet dates/khajoor chutney, you can use tomato sauce.
  • Mathri or puri is optional.
  • You can use homemade sev/ bhujiya.
  • You can also use chopped ginger and green chilies instead of ginger and green chilies paste.
  • Serve ragda hot.

Ingredients

  • Dried White Peas / Sukhi Saphed Matar - 1 Cup ( Soaked Overnight)
  • Onion / Pyaaz - 1/2 Cup, Finely Chopped
  • Tomato / Tamaatar - 1 Finely Chopped
  • Cumin Seeds / Jeera - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder / Haldi Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder / Lal Mirch Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon Or As Required
  • Coriander and Cumin Powder Mix / Dhaniya Aur Jeera Powder Mix - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • All Spice Mix / Garam Masala - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Ginger and Green Chili Paste / Adarak Aur Hari Mirch Paste - 1 Teaspoon Or As Per Taste
  • Dry Mango Powder / Amchur Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon Or As Required
  • Asafoetida / Hing - 1 Pinch
  • Salt / Namak - To Taste
  • Water - As Required
  • SERVING INGREDIENTS (PER SERVING):-
  • Green Coriander Chutney / Hari Dhaniya Chutney - 1 Tablespoon
  • Sweet Dates Chutney / Khajoor Chutney - 2 Tablespoon
  • Tomato / Tamaatar - 1 Tablespoon Finely Chopped
  • Onion / Pyaaz - 1 Tablespoon Finely Chopped Or As Required
  • Boiled Potatoes / Ubale Hue Aloo - 1 Tablespoon Finely Chopped Or As Required
  • Corainder Leaves / Dhaniya Patta - 1 Tablespoon Finely Chopped
  • Sev / Bhujiya - 1 Tablespoon
  • Fresh Curd / Taji Dahi - 2 Tablespoon (Beaten)
  • Chaat Masala - 1 Pinch
  • Mathari / Puri - 2 Small Sized, Crushed (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook overnight soaked dried white peas with salt for 5 to 6 pressure cooker's whistle. Make sure it is boiled well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and onion. Saute it in medium flame.
  3. Now add ginger and green chili paste, tomatoes and salt. Mix it well.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander and Cumin mix powder, all spice mix / garam masala and dry mango powder.
  5. Mix it well. Then add boiled white peas and water as required.
  6. Set gas flame full/on. Mix it and let it boil. Check for salt. Add salt if required.
  7. Adjust water, it should be flowing consistency. Mash boiled white peas slightly. Turn off the gas flame.
  8. Delicious Ragda is ready.
  9. SERVING :- Take a snacks plate, pour hot ragda in it.
  10. Spread green coriander chutney, sweet dates chutney, tomato, onion, boiled potato, chaat masala, coriander leaves, sev/bhujiya, curd, and mathari.
  11. Delicious 'Ragda Chaat | Mumbai Street Food Chaat' is ready to be served.
