Sabudana Vada | Non-Fried Sabudana Vada is a delicious and healthy snack for everyone.  

Sabudana Vada | Non-Fried Sabudana Vada is a less oil snack. This uses sago/sabudana, potato, peanuts and some spices and herbs. This is quick and easy to prepare without any frying. You just need soaked sabudana and boiled potato for preparing this vada. It as a crispy texture with a soft centre. You can serve this vada for evening tea-time snack for fasting as well as other days. So, try to make this vada at home and enjoy with your family. Do share your feedback as well.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • While soaking the sabudana/sago, first soak it for 25-30 minutes in water. Then drain the water completely and keep aside for 7 to 8 hours.
  • Peanuts give a nice flavour to the vada so do add it.
  • If you want to make the vada for fast then add sendha namak/rock salt.
  • Cook the vada on a low flame from all the sides in an appe pan.
  • If you do not have an appe pan then make tikki/cutlets out of the mixture and cook them on tawa.
  • Serve this vada with green chutney or any type of chutney of your choice.

Ingredients

  • Sabudana/Sago - 1 & 1/2 Cup
  • Boiled Potato - 2 big sized
  • Peanut Powder - 1 Cup
  • Ginger - Green Chilli paste - 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - a handful
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Sugar - 1 Teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - juice of 1 lemon
  • Oil - as required for roasting

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl and wash the sabudana/sago. Then soak it in water for 25 to 30 minutes. Drain the water completely and keep it aside for 7 to 8 hours by covering with lid.
  2. Roast the peanuts on a low flame for 7 to 8 minutes. Ten let it cool completely. Make coarse powder of it.
  3. Take a big bowl and add soaked sago, mashed boiled potato, cumin seeds, roasted peanut powder, coriander leaves, salt, sugar, ginger-green chilli paste, lemon juice. Mix all the ingredients well..
  4. Meanwhile, heat an appe pan. Grease each cavity with oil.
  5. Make small balls of the sago mixture.
  6. Cook the sabudana vada on a low flame for 4 to 5 minutes by covering with a lid. Then flip it and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Sprinkle oil on sides while roasting.
  7. Once the vada turns nice golden brown from all the sides, take them out on a serving plate.
  8. Delicious 'Sabudana Vada | Non-Fried Sabudana Vada' is ready to served with any chutney of your choice.
