Sandwich Dhokla | White Sandwich Dhokla is a tempting snack. 

Sandwich Dhokla | White Sandwich Dhokla is a mouthwatering snack and breakfast. The chutney is sandwiched in white dhokla to make this yummy snack. This is a very popular dish from Gujarati cuisine. You can easily make this snack at home by following this simple recipe. This tastes amazing and you do not require any chutney or a dip. Moreover, this is very healthy. You just require idli or dosa batter, green chutney and only 10 minutes for cooking. Everyone will love this snack. So, try to make this at home and get appreciated by everyone.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • The idli/dosa batter should be thick.
  • Fruit salt should be added to the batter just before steaming the dhokla.
  • Before putting the dhokla for steaming, the water should be boiling; else it will not be fluffy.
  • This dhokla should be made using Green Chutney.
  • The dhokla should be allowed to cool completely before it is cut into pieces.

Ingredients

  • Thick Idli/Dosa batter - 2 cups
  • Ginger-Green Chilli paste - 1 Teaspoon
  • Fruit Salt - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Green Chutney - as required
  • Oil - as required, for greasing
  • FOR TEMPERING/TADKA:-
  • Oil - 2 Tablespoon
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves - a few
  • Asafoetida/hing - a pinch
  • Coriander Leaves - as required, for garnishing

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add and mix well idli/dosa batter, green chilli-ginger paste, and salt.
  2. Boil water in a steamer or a big vessel too. Put a stand in it.
  3. Grease thali or large plate with oil.
  4. Add fruit salt to the batter and mix well. Pour half of the batter in the thali and spread it evenly.
  5. Put it in the steamer and steam it for 5 minutes on a high flame. After 5 minutes, insert a knife to check it. If it comes out clean then it is cooked perfectly.
  6. Check the water in the steamer. Add water if required and boil it again.
  7. Spread the green chutney on the cooked dhokla. Then spread the batter.
  8. Steam it again for 5 minutes on a high flame. After 5 minutes, insert a knife to check it. If it comes out clean, then it is cooked perfectly. Once done, take it out and let it cool completely. Then cut it into pieces.
  9. PREPARING THE TEMPERING/TADKA:- Heat oil in a tadka pan. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and asafoetida. Let the seeds crackle. Then turn off the gas.
  10. Pur this tadka over the dhokla and spread it evenly. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  11. Delicious 'Sandwich Dhokla | White Sandwich Dhokla' is ready to be served.
