It is spicy and hence you can serve it with yogurt raita, but also tastes great just by itself. Pulao recipe is one of the staple food in India for lunch, dinner, and tiffin boxes. Ingredients

  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1 Teaspoon
  • Onion / Pyaz - 3 Teaspoons
  • Ginger-green chilli-garlic paste / Adrakh-hari mirchi-lahsun paste - 1 Teaspoon
  • Capsicum - 3 Teaspoons
  • Green peas / Matar - 1/4 Cup
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirchi powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Tomato / Tamatar - 1 Finely chopped
  • Paneer / Cottage Cheese - 1/4 Cup small cubes
  • Boiled potato / Aloo - 1 Peeled and finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves / Hara Dhaniya - A handful + For garnishing
  • Cooked rice / Chawal - 1 Cup
  • Lemon Juice - Of 1 Lemon
  • Cheese - As required for garnishing
  • FOR PREPARING MASALA TADKA :
  • Butter - 1 Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirchi powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Pav bhaji masala - 2 to 3 Teaspoons

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a tawa. Add cumin seeds and onion. Mix well and add ginger-green chilli-garlic paste. Saute it for a few seconds.
  2. Now add capsicum, green peas, salt, and red chilli powder. Mix well and saute it for 2 to 3 minutes on a high flame.
  3. Then add tomato, paneer, and boiled potato. Mix well and slightly mash them using a masher.
  4. Meanwhile, heat butter in a tadka pan for preparing masala tadka. Turn off the flame. Add red chilli powder and pav bhaji masala. Mix well and add it to mashed vegetable. Mix well.
  5. Now add coriander leaves and cooked rice. Mix well for 1 to 2 minutes. Then add lemon juice and mix well.
  6. Once done, garnish it with coriander leaves and cheese.
  7. 'Tawa Pulao | Tawa Pulav' is ready to be served.
