Til Mungfali Chikki | Mixed Nuts Chikki is a crunchy and delicious treat for everyone. 

Til Mungfali Chikki | Mixed Nuts Chikki is a popular snack item during the winter season, especially in Makar Sankranti. This is a healthy and tasty snack item. You just need a few ingredients to prepare this chikki. It requires a few tips and tricks to make a perfect crunchy chikki. This is a healthy winter snack which provides essential nutrients and heat to the body. This contains black and white sesame seeds, peanuts and daaliya/roasted Bengal gram. These ingredients are very nutritious. So, try to make this chikki by following this simple recipe and let us know your feedback.

This chikki was prepared by Shraddha Thakrar – a lovely grandmom from Gujarat.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • To make a perfect chikki, the ratio of jagger/gud, and nuts should be proper.
  • Cook the jaggery on a low flame. Do a test by adding a drop of jaggery in the water. If it solidifies and breaks then it is ready. Else cook for more few minutes.
  • After mixing all the ingredients, immediately flatten it. Then cut into pieces when it is warm. Else you will not get perfect pieces.

Ingredients

  • White and Black Til (mixed) - 1/4 Cup
  • Roasted Peanuts - 1/4 Cup
  • Daaliya/Futana/Roasted Bengal Gram - 1/4 Cup
  • Grated Gud/Jaggery - 1/4 Cup
  • Ghee/CLarified Butter - as required

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the sesame seeds, peanuts and daaliya/roasted bengal gram separately for 2 to 3 minutes or until the moisture is evaporated. Then keep aside to cool. Remove the peel of roasted peanuts and crush it little bit. Keep aside.
  2. Now, heat a pan. Grease it with ghee.
  3. Add grated jaggery and melt it on a low flame. Once it starts bubbling, do a test. Put a drop of melted jaggery in a bowl of water. If it solidifies and breaks then the jaggery is ready. Else cook for couple of minutes.
  4. Then add roasted sesame seeds, crushed roasted peanuts, roasted daaliya dal/roasted bengal gram. Mix well.
  5. Grease a rolling base and rolling pin with a ghee.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the rolling base. Wet your hands and shape the mixture. Roll it with rolling pin to flatten it to the desired thickness. Then cut into pieces. let it cool for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Delicious 'Til Mungfali Chikki | Mixed Nuts Chikki' is ready to be served.
