Tomato Gojju | Tamatar Til Ki Sabzi is a delicious sabzi. 

Tomato Gojju | Tamatar Til Ki Sabzi is a tangy, spicy, little sweet sabzi of tomato and til or sesame seeds. This is a popular sabzi from South Indian Cuisine. This is quick and super easy to prepare using fewer ingredients which are easily available in the kitchen. It goes well with roti or paratha or poori or even with rice. The good thing is that it does not require onion and garlic. To make the sabzi flavourful, til powder is used. It is not only tasty but healthy as well. You can prepare this sabzi when you do not have any veggies except tomato or when you do not have much time to cook. You can serve it as lunch or dinner or even in the lunch box. Ingredients

  • Tamatar/ Tomato - 4 chopped
  • Til/ White Sesame Seeds - 3 to 4 Tablespoon
  • Laal mirch powder/ Red Chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Gud/ Jaggery - as per taste
  • Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teasoon
  • Urad dal/ Black Gram without skin - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Jeera/ Cumin seeds - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Sarso/ Mustard seeds - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Hing/ Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Curry patta/ Curry Leaves - few
  • Tel/ Oil - 1 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the sesame seeds for a minute on a low flame. Then let them cool completely. Grind to make a powder and keep it in an airtight container.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai.
  3. Add urad dal/black gram without skin, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, asafoetida and curry leaves. Let the seeds crackle.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and mix well. Sauté it for 2 to 3 minutes on a medium flame. Then cover the kadai and let it cook.
  5. Once the tomatoes are soft, add salt, red chilli powder, and jaggery. Mix well. Cover and cook for a minute.
  6. Finally, add powdered sesame seeds. Mix well and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then, turn off the flame. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  7. Delicious 'Tomato Gojju | Tamatar Til Ki Sabzi' is ready to be served.
