Tomato Onion Chutney is a delicious chutney for your meals. 

Tomato Onion Chutney is super quick and simple to make. You just need tomatoes, onion, green chilli, some spices to prepare this chutney. This has an amazing tangy, sweet and spicy taste. It goes well with paratha or boiled rice or any dish of your choice. Moreover, this gets ready within minutes without any hassle. You can prepare this chutney for your lunch or dinner. So, try to make this chutney at home and enjoy with your family and friends.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • To balance the sourness of tomato, sugar is added to the chutney. You can use jaggery as well instead of sugar.
  • Adjust the consistency of the chutney as per your taste.

Ingredients

  • Tomato - 4 roughly chopped
  • Onion - 1/2 roughly chopped
  • Garlic - 1 Teaspoon finely chopped
  • Curry Leaves - few
  • Green Chilli - 1 chopped
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 & 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take a grinder jar and add tomato, onion. Grind to make smooth paste.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Add mustard seeds, turmeric powder, asafoetida, chopped garlic, green chilli, curry leaves. Saute for few seconds.
  4. Then add tomato-onion puree and mix well. Add salt, red chilli powder ad mix well. Cover and cook for a minute on a high flame.
  5. Add sugar and mix well. Cover and let it cook for a minute then switch off the flame.
  6. Delicious 'Tomato Onion Chutney' is ready to be served.
