Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Instead of using baby potatoes, you can use medium-sized potatoes by cutting them into four pieces.
  • If you want to eat this vada during your fast, you can make the slurry with rajgira flour or amaranth flour, rock salt, and black pepper powder.
  • If meethi chutney is not available to you, you can use tomato sauce instead of it.

Ingredients

  • FOR FRYING THE POTATOES-
  • Baby Aloo/ Potatoes - 6 to 7
  • Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Laal mirch powder/ Red chilli powder - as per taste
  • Water - as per required consistency
  • FOR PREPARING ALOO DAHI VADA-
  • Dahi/ Curd - 1 cup
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Chilli flakes - as per taste
  • Roasted Jeera powder/ Cumin seeds powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Meethi chutney - 2 to 3 tablespoon
  • Pyaaz/ Onion - as required finely chopped
  • Boondi - as required
  • Dhaniya patta/ Coriander leaves - for garnishing finely chopped
  • Laal mirch powder/ Red chilli powder - as per taste

Instructions

  1. FOR FRYING THE POTATOES-
  2. In a cooker add baby potatoes and let it cook for 2 whistles and remove the whistle immediately. Flatten the potatoes by pressing them in between your palms. Remember not to peel the skin of the potatoes.
  3. In a bowl add rice flour, salt, red chilli powder, and water to make a slurry of thick consistency.
  4. Meanwhile heat oil in a pan.
  5. Dip the pressed potatoes in the slurry and drop them slowly in the oil and deep fry them on medium flame.
  6. FOR PREPARING ALOO DAHI BADE-
  7. In a bowl add, curd, salt, chilli flakes, roasted cumin seeds powder, and meethi chutney to it and mix them well.
  8. Transfer the fried potatoes to a serving plate and add curd, onion, boondi, coriander leaves, and red chilli powder on it.
  9. Aloo Dahi Bada | Aloo Dahi Vada is ready to be served.
