Aloo Laccha Tikki is a crispy and crunchy dish.

Aloo Laccha Tikki is a healthy and munching dish. The main ingredient is potato. The grated potato is bind with different flours making it an amazing dish. Adding the rice flour, corn flour and breadcrumbs gives it crispiness, which is relishing. It requires easily available ingredients like red chili flakes, red chili powder, ginger, green chili, salt and coriander leaves. Shallow frying the tikki makes it healthy. Tips and suggestions by the Mom Chef:-

  • Keep the potato in water after peeling it, so that it does not turn red in color.
  • The fine the grate of potato, the tikki will cook quickly.
  • Keep the potato grate in the chilled water, so that it does not turn red in color and it also helps to remove the starch.
  • Straining the potato grates from muslin cloth, removes the excess water.
  • In place of rice flour, you can add all purpose flour or besan, whichever is available with you.
  • If the tikki mixture requires more binding then, add rice flour or corn flour.

Ingredients

  • Potato/Aloo - 2 no medium size
  • Chilled water - as required
  • Rice flour - 2 tablespoon
  • Corn flour - 2 tablespoon
  • Bread crumbs - 2 tablespoon
  • Green chili/Hari mirch - 1 no finely chopped
  • Ginger/Adrak - 1/2 inch grated
  • Red chili flakes - to taste
  • Red chili powder/Lal mirch powder - to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coriander leaves - chopped as required
  • Water - as required
  • Oil - for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes. Finely grate the potato. After grating, keep it in chilled water.
  2. Take a strainer and place a muslin cloth on it. Strain the grated potato and squeeze out the water from the muslin cloth.
  3. Put the grated potato in the bowl. Then, put the rice flour, corn flour, bread crumbs, finely chopped green chili and grated ginger.
  4. Now, put the red chili flakes, red chili powder and salt to taste. Add the chopped coriander leaves and mix with the hands.
  5. Add little water to the mixture so that it binds well. Take a small portion of the mixture, make a tikki or give it a shape as you like.
  6. Heat oil in a pan. Place the tikki on the pan, shallow fry from one side for 3 to 4 minutes on medium to low flame. Flip and fry from the other side for 3 to 4 minutes.
  7. The Aloo Laccha Tikki is ready to be served.
