Ingredients

  • Boiled potato / Aloo - 1 Peeled and mashed
  • Salt - As per taste
  • All spice mix powder / Garam masala - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1 tsp + For garnishing
  • Black salt / Kala namak - 1/2 tsp
  • Crushed fennel seeds / Saunf - 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger / Adarak - 1/2 Inch grated
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 2 to 3 Finely chopped
  • Coriander Leaves / Hara Dhaniya - A handful + For garnishing
  • Whole wheat flour / Gehu ka aata - 1 Cup
  • Clarified butter / Ghee - 1 tbsp + As required
  • Water - As required
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take boiled potato in a bowl. Add salt, all spice mix powder, red chilli powder, black salt, crushed fennel seeds, ginger, green chilli, and coriander leaves. Mix well. Keep it aside.
  2. Take whole wheat flour in a bowl. Add 1 tbsp of ghee and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add water gradually to make the medium soft dough like the dough for poori.
  4. Take small ball sized dough and make round shaped big circular peda from the dough. Roll a peda to make a roti.
  5. Then add the prepared potato stuffing in the center of it. Join the edges and seal it properly. Press it between the palms to make it flattened shaped baati. Apply water on one side of the prepared baati.
  6. Meanwhile, heat a tawa. place the water-coated surface upside down on a heated tawa, Roast it for 2 to 3 minutes on low flame.
  7. Then flip the tawa upside down and cook the baati directly on the flame until it turns golden brown. Then remove it from the tawa.
  8. Hold the baati using a tongs (chimta) to cook baati's out side border. Once roasted well from all sides. Take it out to a plate and cut it.
  9. Now dip it in melted ghee for a few seconds. Then take them out to a serving plate. Garnish it with coriander leaves and red chilli powder.
  10. 'Aloo Masala Baati On Tawa | No Oven No Tandoor Baati' is ready to be served.
