Aloo Matar Bonda is deep-fried spicy dumpling.

Aloo Matar Bonda is a spicy snack. It is prepared with spiced potato and peas, which are then coated with besan batter and then deep-fried till golden crisp. Moreover, this is a famous vegetarian fast food snack in Maharashtra cuisine or street food. You can serve them with tamarind chutney, ketchup, or green chutney. Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING PASTE :
  • Ginger / Adrakh - 1 Inch
  • Garlic / Lahsun - 3 to 4 Cloves
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 1 Chopped
  • Roasted peanuts / Mungfali - 1/4 Cup
  • FOR PREPARING GRAM FLOUR BATTER :
  • Gram flour/ Besan - 1 Cup
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - A pinch
  • All spice mix powder / Garam masala - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Water - As required
  • Baking soda - A pinch
  • Oil - 1 Teaspoon
  • FOR PREPARING ALOO MATAR BONDA :
  • Potato / Aloo - 2 Boiled and mashed
  • Peas / Matar - 1/2 Cup
  • Coriander leaves / Hara Dhaniya - A handful
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • All spice mix powder / Garam masala - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Oil - For greasing + For frying
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING PASTE :
  2. Take ginger, green chilli, and roasted peanuts in a grinding jar. Coarsely grind it and prepare its paste. Keep it aside.
  3. FOR PREPARING GRAM FLOUR BATTER :
  4. Take gram flour in a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, all spice mix powder. and oil. Mix well.
  5. Then add water gradually to make a batter of medium-flowing consistency. Then add baking soda. Mix well.
  6. FOR PREPARING ALOO MATAR BONDA :
  7. Coarsely grind green peas in a grinding jar for a few seconds. Keep it aside.
  8. Take potato in a bowl. Add ground green peas, coriander leaves, ground peanuts paste, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, all spice mix powder, and dry mango powder. Mix well.
  9. Then grease hands with oil. Take a small portion of the mixture on the palm. Prepare a nice round vada-shaped ball. Likewise, prepare all vada from the mixture,
  10. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan to fry the bonda.
  11. Dip the prepared potato matar balls into the batter and coat them evenly. Place it into the hot oil. Fry them on medium flame.
  12. Deep fry them until they become crispy and golden brown from all side. Then, take them out on a serving plate using a slotted spoon.
  13. 'Aloo Matar Bonda' is ready to be served.
