Aloo Pyaaz Ke Pakode is crispy and tasty tea-time snack.

Aloo Pyaaz Ke Pakode is one of the most popular snacks in India. This delicious snack requires besan/gram flour, onions, potatoes and some spices. This is very easy to make and is delicious. The mouth-watering tea time snacks make for a good quick fix even when guests come unannounced and you can serve them as accompaniments with tea. Also, best relished during monsoon season this snack holds a special place in everyone’s heart. So, try to make it at home and let us know your feedback.

Tips and Suggestions by the Chef –

  • If semolina/rava/sooji is unavailable you can use rice flour instead of semolina.
  • Spice it up according to your taste.
  • Fry the pakode on alow to medium flame to make them crispy.
  • You can make pakode by dipping sliced onion and potato in the batter. OR can add chopped onion and potato in the batter.
  • Serve this with hot  Masala Chai

Ingredients

  • Gram Flour / Besan - 1/2 Cup
  • Semolina / Sooji or Rice flour- 2 Teaspoon
  • Onion - 1 big ( 1/2 sliced and 1/2 diced )
  • Fennel seeds / Saunf - 1 Teaspoon
  • Potato - 1 big ( 1/2 sliced and 1/2 diced )
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Red chilli powder - as per taste
  • Coriander leaves - 1 Teaspoon
  • Chat masala - as per taste
  • Mixed herbs or red chilli flakes - pinch or as per taste (optional)
  • Water - as required

Instructions

  1. FOR BATTER -
  2. In a bowl, take gram flour and add semolina to it.
  3. Add fennel seeds, salt, red chilli powder, coriander leaves, chaat masala, red chilli flakes or mixed herbs ( as per taste ).
  4. Add water and whisk thoroughly. The consistency of the batter should be thick but flowing.
  5. Meanwhile, heat oil in the pan for frying.
  6. Now, dip the sliced potatoes and sliced onions and put in the hot oil. Fry them on a low to medium flame by flipping them.
  7. Once the pakode are golden brown from both the sides, take them out.
  8. In the remaining batter, add diced onions and diced potatoes. Mix well.
  9. Fry the small pakode (you can use a spoon) in hot oil. Flip them to fry evenly.
  10. Once they are crisp and brown, transfer them on tissue paper ( to absorb excessive oil ).
  11. You can make pakode by dipping sliced onion and potato in the batter. OR can add chopped onion and potato in batter.
  12. Delicious and crispy Aloo Pyaaz Ke Pakode are ready to be relished.
