Aloo Tamatar Sabji – Halwai Style Recipe is a classic curry recipe famous in India. This halwai style healthy curry requires potato, tomato and some spices to give awesome taste to the dish. It goes well either with poori or chapati and you will surely love the flavours. Moreover, this dish works wonder when you don’t have any vegetable except potato and tomato at home. The good thing is that you can prepare this curry very easily within 10 minutes if you have boiled potato. You can serve this curry either in breakfast or lunch or dinner.   • More you boil the curry, more you get the flavourful curry.
  • Cook the tomato puree on a medium -low flame until it leaves the oil. This is an indication to know that the masala is cooked properly.
  • You can adjust the consistency of the gravy by adjusting the water level.

Ingredients

  • Potato - 2 boiled
  • Tomato - 2 pureed
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Heeng/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Red chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon or as per taste
  • Haldi/Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Oil - 1 to 2 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Wash the tomato and make puree of tomato.
  2. Take a kadai, add oil and heat it.
  3. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Let the seeds crackle.
  4. Then add tomato puree. Cook it on a medium-low flame. Add turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well and cook.
  5. Once oil leaves the masala, add boiled chopped potato. Mix well and cook it for a minute.
  6. Then add a bowl of water to it. Bring it to boil on a high flame. Add chopped coriander leaves. Boil the curry for 4 to 5 minutes. Then switch off the gas.
  7. Yummy 'Aloo Tamatar Sabji - Halwai Style Recipe' is ready to be served with poori or chapati.
