You can pair this simply with fried green chillies or any green chutney or red chutney of your choice. This very easy to make as it uses basic ingredients like leftover or boiled rice, some veggies, and different spices that make this dish flavourful. Ingredients

  • Leftover/ Boiled Chawal/ Rice - 1 cup
  • Aloo/ Potato - 2 boiled and mashed
  • Pyaaz/ Onion - 1 medium finely chopped
  • Gajar/ Carrot - 1 small grated
  • Shimlamirch/ Capsicum - 1/4 cup finely chopped
  • Adrak/ Ginger - 1/2 inch grated
  • Dhaniya patta/ Coriander powder - 1/2 cup
  • Besan/ Gram Flour/ Chickpea flour - 2 tablespoon
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Laal mirch powder/ Red chilli powder - as per taste
  • Jeera powder/ Cumin powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder/ All spice mix - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Dhaniya powder/ Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ajwain/ Carom seeds - a pinch
  • Water - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil - for frying
  • Hari mirch/ Green chilli - as per taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add and mix well leftover rice, potatoes, onion, carrot, capsicum, ginger, coriander leaves, gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, carom seeds and coriander powder together to make a dough.
  2. Add water to adjust the consistency of the dough.
  3. Take a part of dough and give it any shape you like.
  4. PREPARING IN PAN-
  5. Heat oil in a pan and drop the dough balls in the oil carefully.
  6. Keep stirring it and fry them on medium flame until golden brown in colour.
  7. Fry green chillies in the oil until it becomes crunchy.
  8. PREPARING IN APPAM PAN-
  9. Meanwhile, heat the appam pan and grease it with oil.
  10. Place the dough balls in the pan and let it cook on medium flame for few minutes.
  11. Flip it to the other side using a fork to cook the other side as well. Add drops of oil on them to give it a shine.
  12. Bache Hue Chawal Ke Pakode | Leftover Rice Pakode are ready to be served.
