Bajra Choorma Laddu is a delicious winter delicacy for all.

Bajra Choorma Laddu is a sweet made from choorma or crushed pearl millet roti. This requires pearl millet flour, jaggery, ghee, dry nuts and cardamom powder for flavour. These are very delicious and nutritious laddu. Pearl Millet is a very popular winter food of North India. As we know pearl millet is a rich source of iron, minerals, dietary fibre. Moreover, it aids digestion and helps to reduce cholesterol. So, try to make this yummy and healthy laddu and let us know how you liked it.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • You can store this laddu in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
  • Adding dry nuts is completely optional.
  • Make a smooth soft dough using warm water to prevent the roti from cracks. Knead the dough for 1 to 2 minute then use it.

Ingredients

  • Bajra aata/Pearl Millet Flour - 1 and 1/2 Cup + for dusting
  • Grated Jaggery - 1 Cup
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - 2 Tablespoon
  • Chopped dry nuts - 2 to 3 Tablespoon
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 2 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take pearl millet flour in a bowl and add warm water to make a soft dough. Knead the dough for a minute or 2. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
  2. Take a dough ball and dust it with a flour. Roll it to make a roti using rolling pin. (you can make roti with hands too)
  3. Meanwhile, heat the tava on a high flame.
  4. Once the tava is heated, cook the roti on a medium flame. Flip the roti and cook it on another side.
  5. Now, cook the roti directly on a flame from both the sides. Keep aside to cool.
  6. Crush the roti and grind it to make coarse powder. This is called choorma.
  7. Heat a pan, add ghee and melt it.
  8. Add grated jaggery and cook it on a low flame.
  9. Once the jaggery gets melted, add crushed roti. Mix well.
  10. Add cardamom powder, sesame seeds, chopped dry nuts. Mix well. Cook for a minute then switch off the flame. Let the mixture cool little bit.
  11. Make small laddu out the mixture. Transfer to a plate.
  12. Yummy 'Bajra Choorma Laddu' is ready to be served.
