Chakli | Aate Ki Chakli is a crispy tea-time snack for everyone. 

Chakli | Aate Ki Chakli is healthy because it absorbs very less oil. This is quick and easy to prepare using fewer ingredients only. The main ingredient is whole wheat flour to make the chakli. You can easily prepare this crunchy snack and store for the festive season. Chakli is a very popular snack across India. There are many variations of chakli made during festivals like Diwali. This is the easiest way to make the chakli with only wheat flour. So, try to make this snack at home and enjoy with your loved ones. Do share your feedback as well.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Make sure the flour is dry while cooking in the pressure cooker.
  • After steaming, the flour will turn hard. Crush it using a mixer grinder. You can sieve the flour as well.
  • Fry the chakli when the oil is medium hot. Keep the flame medium while frying.

Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Flour - 1 & 1/2 Cup
  • Sesame seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Ginger-Green Chilli Paste - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/2 Teaspoon or as per taste
  • Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Roasted Coriander-Cumin powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Oil - 1 Teaspoon + for frying

Instructions

  1. Take a pressure cooker, add water and put ring or stand in it.
  2. Take a pot and put whole wheat flour in it. Cover it with a plate. Put this pot in the pressure cooker. Pressure the flour for 4 to 5 whistles on a medium heat. Once done switch off the gas and let it cool.
  3. Take the flour out and let it cool completely. The flour will turn hard.
  4. Crush the flour with the help of mixer grinder.
  5. Now, take a mixing bowl and add flour, salt, red chilli powder, sesame seeds, green chilli-ginger paste, coriander-cumin powder, asafoetida, 1 teaspoon oil. Mix well.
  6. Add water little by little to make soft dough.
  7. Grease a chakli maker with oil. Put star shaped mould in it. Then fill it with a dough.
  8. Make chaklis on a plate.
  9. Meanwhile, heat oil for frying.
  10. Once the oil is medium hot, fry the chakli on a medium flame until golden brown in colour. Take out the chakli. Let it cool completely.
  11. Delicious 'Chakli | Aate Ki Chakli' is ready to be served.
