Cheese Vada Pav is popular street food.

Today Shveta had opened mystery box no. – 3. She got boiled potato, pav, besan, and garlic from it. So, she made  Cheese Vada Pav from these 4 ingredients. It is a snack that is made with pav and fried potato vada which is a unique blend of different spices. You can enjoy this mouth-watering snack as an evening snack and pair it with a nice cup of hot tea or coffee. It is known for its different flavors and is loved by a wide range of people. Tips and Suggestions by a Mom Chef:

  • You can add boiled potato to the pan instead of adding tadka to the boiled potato.
  • The boiled potato should be cool down completely to prepare the vada mixture.
  • Add hot oil to the gram flour batter to make crispy vada.
  • If you want, you can add 1/2 tsp of baking soda to the gram flour batter.
  • You can apply schezwan sauce to the pav instead of green chutney.

Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING POTATO STUFFING :
  • Garlic / Lahsun - 6 to 8 Cloves
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 2 to 3 Finely chopped
  • Ginger / Adrakh - 1 Inch chopped
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds / Rai - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing - A pinch
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves / Curry patta - A few
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Coriander leaves / Hara Dhaniya - A handful
  • Oil - For greasing
  • FOR PREPARING GRAM FLOUR BATTER :
  • Gram flour/ Besan - 1 Cup
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1 tsp
  • Carom seeds / Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
  • Hot oil - 1 tsp
  • Water - As required
  • FOR PREPARING CHEESE VADA PAV :
  • Oil - For frying
  • Pav - 2
  • Green chilli / Hari mirch - 2
  • Green chutney - As required
  • Cheese - As required
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING POTATO STUFFING :
  2. Take garlic, green chilli, and ginger to the mortar pestle and crush them. Keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, crushed garlic mixture, asafoetida, turmeric powder, and curry leaves. Mix well for a few seconds.
  4. Now take boiled potato in a bowl and add the prepared tadka to it. Then add salt and coriander leaves. Mix well.
  5. Then grease your palms with oil. Take a small portion of the mixture on the palm. Prepare a nice round vada-shaped ball. Likewise, prepare all vada from the mixture. Keep it aside.
  6. FOR PREPARING GRAM FLOUR BATTER :
  7. Take gram flour in a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds by rubbing between your palm and hot oil. Mix well.
  8. Then add water gradually to make a batter of medium-flowing consistency. Then whisk it well for 1 to 2 minutes. Keep it aside.
  9. FOR PREPARING CHEESE VADA PAV :
  10. Heat oil in a pan to fry the vada. Dip the prepared potato balls into the gram flour batter and coat them evenly. Place it into the hot oil. Fry them on medium flame.
  11. Deep fry them until they become crispy and golden brown from all sides. Then, take them out on a plate using a slotted spoon.
  12. Then fry green chilies in hot oil. Then, take them out on a plate using a slotted spoon.
  13. Cut the pav from between and spread green chutney on both sides to it. Put vada into it. Now grate cheese on it. Put fried green chilli and again grate cheese on it.
  14. Cover it with the upper pav slice. Slightly press it.
  15. 'Cheese Vada Pav' is ready to be served.
