Corn Vada | Corn Appe is a yummy and guilt-free snack recipe.

Corn Vada | Corn Appe is a tasty tea-time snack. From kids to diet followers, everyone  will love this dish, mostly, we make vadas in deep oil frying way. But, the preparation of this dish requires less oil. Hence, it healthy and nutritious. So, try this recipe and let us know your feedback in the comment section.

Tips and suggestions by the Mom Chef:-

  • For more spiciness, add green chilies as per taste.
  • You can use semolina/rava, instead of rice flour.
  • Lightly roast the besan/split chickpea flour for 6 minutes on low flame for using it for binding.

Ingredients

  • Fresh makai dane/corn kernels - 1 cup
  • Hari mirchi/Green chili - 1 no
  • Adrak/Ginger - 1/2 inch
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water as required
  • Lal mirchi powder/Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Roasted jeera/cumin seeds powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chaat masala - 1 pinch
  • Coriander leaves as required (chopped)
  • Pyaz/Onion - 1 no (chopped)
  • Chawal ka atta/Rice flour - 2 tablespoon
  • Roasted besan/split chickpea flour - 3 tablespoon
  • Baking soda - 1 pinch

Instructions

  1. Wash the corn kernels, and keep aside 2 tablespoon of corn kernels in a bowl.
  2. Take the remaining corn kernels, put green chili, ginger, salt and grind it coarsely. Then add small quantity of water and grind again keep it coarse in texture.
  3. To the bowl with 2 tablespoon of corn kernel, add the coarse mixture, red chili powder, roasted cumin seeds powder, chaat masala, coriander leaves, onion, rice flour, roasted besan.
  4. Put water as required for making it of batter consistency, rest it for 5 minutes so that all the ingredients bind together. Make a ball, if it's not binding, put 1 & 1/2 tablespoon of roasted besan and add 1 pinch of baking soda.
  5. First apply oil on the palms, make small balls. Grease the appe pan with oil, place the corn vada, cover and cook on slow flame for 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Pour oil on all the sides, flip it, and cook again for 3 to 4 minutes.
  7. The Corn Vada | Corn Appe is ready to serve with green chutney.
