Dahi Pyaz Ki Sabji is a yummy side dish for all.

Dahi Pyaz Ki Sabji is a mouthwatering curry made of onion, curd, spices. This is a royal treat for everyone and can be served with roti/phulka/rice. It gets ready within a few minutes and requires only a few ingredients. Try this rich and creamy curry when you have guests at home or at any time. Everyone will love this sabji. This is a perfect option when you do not have any vegetable at home. This tastes amazing when hot with roti or paratha. So, try to make this yummy curry at your end and let us know your feedback.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Saute the diced onion but do not cook it completely. The sabzi/sabji tastes great when it has a crunch of onion.
  • It is recommended to use fresh curd. The curd should be at room temperature for making the curry. Else it may curdle.
  • After adding curd, stir the sabzi/sabji continuously until it is boiled.
  • You can add spices according to your taste.

Ingredients

  • Onion - 2 diced
  • Fresh Curd - 1/2 Cup
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece grated
  • Green chilli - 1 chopped
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala/All spice mix - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Kasuri methi/Dry fenugreek leaves - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Heeng/ Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Curry patta/Curry leaves - 1 spring
  • Fresh malai/cream - 1 Tablespoon (optional)
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 1 to 2 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take a kadai, add oil and heat it.
  2. When oil gets hot, add cumin seeds and let it splutter. Add heeng/asafoetida.
  3. Add green chilli and grated ginger. Saute it. Then, add curry leaves and saute.
  4. Now, add diced onion and saute it for 2 minutes. Do not cook it completely, let it be little crunchy. Cook it on medium-low flame.
  5. Now, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder. Crush the kasuri methi and add to the pan. Saute it for few seconds.
  6. Then add curd and stir it continuously. Once it is boiled, add salt to it.
  7. Now, add fresh malai/homemade cream and mix well. Cook for a minute then switch off the gas.
  8. Now, add chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
  9. Yummy 'Dahi Pyaz Ki Sabji' is ready to be served with roti and rice.
