Ingredients

  • Besan/Gram flour - 1 tablespoon
  • Adrak/Ginger - 1/2 inch finely chopped
  • Hari mirch/Green chili - 1 finely chopped
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Lal mirch powder/Red chili powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Dhaniya powder/Coriander seeds powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Roasted cumin seeds powder - 1/2 tablespoon
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Jeera/Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Dahi/Curd - 1/2 cup
  • Malai/Homemade cream - 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander leaves - as required
  • Kasuri methi/Dry fenugreek leaves - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala/All spices mix powder - 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Using a mortar and pestle, pound finely chopped ginger, finely chopped green chilli, red chilli powder, coriander seed powder, roasted cumin seed powder, and salt, to make an even mixture.
  2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Then, add masala and saute it.
  3. Now, add gram flour and roast it with masala for a few minutes on a low flame.
  4. Beat the curd well and pour it in the pan. Stir the mixture continuously for a few minutes on a low flame.
  5. Then, add garam masala, crushed dry fenugreek leaves and coriander leaves. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Now, add homemade cream and cook it well.
  7. 'Dahi Wali Besan Ki Sabji' is ready to be served.
