Dal Palak | Dhaba Style Dal Palak is a delicious and healthy dish. 

Dal Palak | Dhaba Style Dal Palak is a mouthwatering dal recipe. This is a nutritious dish that goes well with jeera rice or plain rice. This is quick and super easy to prepare. It is a spicy dish with amazing flavour garlic. This has the goodness of spinach and is a complete meal in itself. Everyone will love this dhaba style recipe.   • Garlic adds a different flavour to the dish. However, you can avoid it if you want.
  • Tadka of ghee takes the dish to a different level. So, do make the tadka with ghee/clarified butter.

Ingredients

  • Toor Dal/Piegeon peas - 1/2 Cup
  • Palak/Spinach - 1 small bunch
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch + 1/2 inch piece
  • Green Chilli - 2 finely chopped
  • Garlic - 4 to 5 cloves
  • Tomato - 1 chopped
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Roasted Cumin powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - 1 Teaspoon + 2 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take a pressure cooker and add washed pigeon peas, 1 teaspoon ghee, 1/2 inch grated ginger, 1 finely chopped green chilli, salt, turmeric powder, 1 & 1/2 cups of water. Pressure cook it for 4 whistles. Then let it cool completely.
  2. Now, heat 2 tablespoon ghee/clarified butter.
  3. Add cumin seeds, grated ginger, green chilli, garlic. Saute for few seconds.
  4. Then add well washed and chopped spinach leaves. Saute on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Add chopped tomato, mix well. Cover and cook until tomato are soft. It will take 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala. Mix well and cook for few seconds.
  7. Then add cooked dal/pigeon peas, little water and mix well. Let it boil then switch off flame.
