Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:

  • To avoid the bubbles in the batter, the cake tin should be tapped a little bit.
  • The ratio of maida and crushed sugar should be 1:1.
  • You can reduce the sugar quantity to 3/4 cup if you want less sweet cake

Ingredients

  • Refined flour/Maida - 1 cup
  • Powdered/Crushed sugar - 1 cup + for garnishing
  • Cocoa powder - 2 teaspoons
  • Coffee powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Butter milk - 1/2 cup
  • Warm water - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 1/4 cup + for greasing
  • Vanilla essence - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chocolate chips - as required

Instructions

  1. Preheat the OTG at 180 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
  2. Brush a cake tin with oil. Line it with a butter paper and grease it again with oil. Keep it aside.
  3. Take a bowl and put a sieve on it. Put all purpose flour in it and sieve it. Then, put crushed sugar and sieve it. Now, put cocoa powder, coffee powder, salt, baking soda, baking powder. Sieve them. Mix well.
  4. Then, add butter milk, warm water and oil. Mix them well. If required, add little more water. Then, add vanilla essence. Mix them.
  5. Pour the batter in greased tin. Tap the cake tin gently to level the batter and also remove air bubbles from it. Sprinkle chocolate chips on it.
  6. Put the cake tin in the OTG for baking. Bake the cake at 180 degrees Celsius for 35 - 40 minutes. After 35 minutes, check the cake by inserting a toothpick. If it comes out clean then the cake is ready. Else bake it for 5 more minutes.
  7. Once done, take the cake tin out of the OTG, and let it cool at room temperature. De-mould the cake and remove the butter paper.
  8. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on the top with the help of a sieve.
  9. 'Eggless Chocolate Moist Cake' is ready to be served.
