Instant Suji Dhokla | Rava Dhokla is a quick breakfast option. 

Instant Suji Dhokla | Rava Dhokla is a spicy and little sweet dish. It has a nice soft and spongy texture. It tastes amazing with coriander chutney. This snack is prepared instantly with fruit salt. Moreover, you need only a few ingredients to make this yummy dish. You can make fluffy sooji dhokla very easily at home by following simple tips and tricks. Tips and suggestions by the Mom Chef :

  • Add fruit salt just before steaming the dhokla.
  • The dhokla should be put in the steamer for steaming only after the water boils.
  • Insert a knife to check dhokla. If it comes out clean then it is perfectly cooked. Else steam it for 2 to 3 minutes more.
  • Curry leaves should be added in tadka after turning off the flame, otherwise, they will turn black.

Ingredients

  • Semolina / Rava / Sooji - 1 Cup
  • Curd / Dahi - 1 Cup
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1 tsp (optional)
  • Ginger-green chili paste / Adarak-hari mirchi paste - 1 tsp
  • Powdered sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp + As required for greasing
  • Fruit salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - As required
  • FOR PREPARING TADKA :
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds / Rai - 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds / Til - 1 tsp
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 4 to 5 Slited
  • Curry leaves / Curry patta - A few
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - For garnishing
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take semolina in a bowl. Add curd and mix well to prepare a medium thick batter.
  2. Let it rest for 15 minutes. Then Add salt, turmeric powder, ginger-green chilli paste, powdered sugar, and oil. Mix well. Grease a mould with oil.
  3. Add fruit salt to the batter. Mix well. Transfer the batter immediately to a greased mould. Tap it.
  4. Meanwhile, boil water in a steamer. The dhokla should be put in the steamer for steaming only after the water boils.
  5. Place the mould in the steamer. Steam it on a medium flame for 10 to 12 minutes.
  6. After 10 minutes, insert a knife to check. If it comes out clean then it is perfectly cooked. Else steam it for 2 to 3 minutes more.
  7. Now take it out from the steamer. Keep it aside and let it cool down. Then de-mould it.
  8. FOR PREPARING TADKA :
  9. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, and green chilli. Then turn off the flame and add curry leaves. Mix well.
  10. Pour tadka on the steamed dhokla and garnish it with coriander leaves. Cut it and transfer it to a serving plate.
  11. 'Instant Suji Dhokla | Rava Dhokla' is ready to be served.
