Kairi Ki Khatti Meethi Chutney | Raw Mango Jam is a lip-smacking chutney.

Kairi Ki Khatti Meethi Chutney | Raw Mango Jam that goes well with poori/paratha/roti and even with bread and naan. This is a very quick and easy pickle recipe. This uses raw mango, sugar and some spices. This is tangy and sweet chutney that you can store for more than a year. You can serve this chutney in kid’s tiffin too. Mangoes are in season and this is a right time to make this chutney. So, try to make this dish at home and enjoy with your family.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • The ratio of grated raw mango and sugar should be 1:2.
  • You can use jaggery instead of sugar.
  • It is recommended to use Mustard oil. This gives a nice flavour to the dish.

Ingredients

  • Kairi/ Raw Mango - 1 or 1/2 Cup Grated
  • Cheeni/ Sugar - 1 Cup
  • Hing/ Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Kalonji/ Onion seeds/Nigella seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Crushed Saunf/ Fennel seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Laal Mirch powder/ Red Chilli powder - as per taste
  • Sarso ka Tel/ Mustard oil - 1 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, and then grate the raw mango.
  2. Heat mustard oil in a pan.
  3. Add asafoetida, kalonji and turmeric powder. Then add grated raw mango and sauté for a minute.
  4. Now, add salt, crushed fennel seeds, and red chilli powder. Mix well and sauté for a few seconds.
  5. Add sugar, mix well, and cook until the sugar melts. Cook the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Once done, turn off the gas. Let it cool completely. Then, store in an air-tight container.
  7. Yummy 'Kairi Ki Khatti Meethi Chutney | Raw Mango Jam' is ready to be served.

    U know my sister asked me for the recipe of this khutti meethi chutni few days earlier n i said i don’t know ..but here i got it ..only the difference is that u did it v quickly n my dadi n nani use to make it ve dryfruits also n they called it nauratan chutni ..any how im so happy that some foods v miss badly n v dont know thier recipe now i can get from u guys .v belongs to up i mean my dadi n nani brought up there so v had some indian type food in our chidhood.
