Lemon Bhel Namkeen is a simple and easy savory snack prepared from puffed rice, peanuts, and spices. Prepare it at home any time and it is sure to appease your taste buds. This recipe has fewer calories and healthier options compared to other street foods; therefore, it can also be considered as diet food. So, do try to prepare this delicious snack recipe at home and enjoy it with your family and friends.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Dry roast the peanuts on a low flame; otherwise, they may burn.
  • You can also add veggies and chutney to this snack and serve it as a chaat.
  • You can store it in an air-tight container for longer shelf life.
  • Always turn off the flame before adding the puffed rice; otherwise, it may burn.
  • Stir the puffed rice continuously to avoid burning it.

Ingredients

  • Peanuts - 1 cup
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Rai/Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Haldi powder/Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Lal mirch powder/Red chili powder - as required
  • Green chilli - 1, finely chopped
  • Curry leaves - 5 to 6
  • Dry Mango Powder/Amchur - 1 teaspoon
  • Black salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Chaat masala - as required
  • Salt - as required
  • Puffed rice/murmure - 1 bowl
  • Lemon juice - 1/2 lemon
  • Zero sev/nylon sev/Indian snack - as required

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan and dry roast the peanuts on a low flame. Transfer it to a bowl and keep aside.
  2. Now, heat oil in the same pan and add mustard seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, green chilli, curry leaves, amchur powder, black salt, chaat masala, and salt. Turn off the flame and add puffed rice.
  3. Mix the contents properly and turn on the flame. Roast it on a low flame. Continuously stir it for 5 minutes.
  4. Turn off the flame. Squeeze the lemon juice on the mix and add peanuts and sev. Mix it properly.
  5. Delicious Lemon Bhel Namkeen is ready to be served.
