Ingredients

  • Maize/Makki Flour - 1 Cup
  • Roasted pea nuts/seeng dana - 2 Tablespoon
  • Chopped Tomato - 1/2 Cup
  • Mixed Vegetables (Cauliflower,capsicum, green peas and carrot) - 1 Cup Chopped
  • Chopped Green Chili - 2 Teaspoon
  • Chopped Ginger - 1 Teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 Tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Garam masala - as per the taste
  • Salt - as per the taste
  • Vegetable oil - 4 Tablespoon
  • Muster seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Zero number sev OR Nylon Sev - as required for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Put 1 teaspoon oil in pan then add maize flour. Roast it on a low flame for 10-15 minutes and take it out.
  2. Add remaining oil in the pan then add mustard seed and curry leaves and saute for few seconds.
  3. Add ginger and green chili in it and sauté.
  4. Add all vegetables including tomato and spices then cover with lid until vegetables gets cooked. It will take around 10 minutes.
  5. Add one glass of water or more if required. When it starts boiling then add roasted maize flour. Mix it properly and cook for 5-7 minutes. Then put off gas.
  6. Garnish it with coriander leaves, roasted pea nuts and add lime juice as per taste.
  7. Serve garma garam 'Makki Flour Vegetable Upma' to the family and enjoy
