Malai Pyaaz Ki Sabzi is a lip-smacking curry. 

Malai Pyaaz Ki Sabzi is a simple and innovative sabji. This does not require many ingredients, preparation, and time to get ready. If you don’t have any kind of green vegetables then this is a perfect option. This goes well with roti, paratha. This is a unique idea to make a yummy dish out the onion and malai/homemade cream. Moreover, this is quick and easy to prepare. Everyone will love this sabji. So, try to make it at home and enjoy with your family and friends. Do share your feedback as well.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • You can adjust spices according to your taste.
  • If you do not have malai/homemade cream then you can use fresh cream as well.
  • While adding malai to the pan, lower the flame first, and then add it. Mix well.

Ingredients

  • Pyaaz/Onion - 3 diced
  • Tomato - 2 pureed
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece grated
  • Green Chilli - 2 chopped
  • Malai/Homemade cream OR Fresh Cream - 2 Tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida/Hing - a pinch
  • Bay Leaf - 1
  • Green Cardamom/Elaichi - 2
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder - 1 to 1 & 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Cumin/Jeera powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Kasuri Methi/Dry Fenugreek Leaves - 1 Tablespoon
  • Coriander Leaves - as required
  • Oil - 2 to 3 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add asafoetida.
  2. Then, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let the seeds crackle.
  3. Add bay leaf, green cardamom, grated ginger, and chopped green chilli. Saute for a few seconds.
  4. Add diced onion, mix well, and saute for 1 to 2 minutes on a high flame. Then, cover and cook on a low flame until it turns translucent. Do not overcook the onion.
  5. Then, add tomato puree and cook it on a high flame for a couple of minutes.
  6. Now, add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red chilli powder. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  7. Lower the flame and add malai/homemade cream. Mix well and cook.
  8. Once the oil leaves the sabzi, add garam masala. Crush the kasuri methi between the palms and add to the pan. Mix well and turn off the flame. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  9. Delicious 'Malai Pyaaz Ki Sabzi' is ready to be served.
