Masala Bhakri | Gujarati Masala Bhakhri is a crispy and spicy flatbread.

Masala Bhakri | Gujarati Masala Bhakhri is made with whole wheat flour and some spices. It is an authentic dish of Gujarat. It goes well with  Kathiyawadi Gathiya Nu Saak and garlic chutney. You can serve it with hot tea also for breakfast. It is a healthy option for kids tiffin as well. So, try to make this paratha at home and do share your feedback with us.

  • Make an indentation on bhakri using the top side of a rolling pin to cook it well from the inside.

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour / Gehu ka aata - 1 Cup
  • Green chilli paste / Hari mirchi paste - 1/2 Tsp
  • Ginger paste / Adrak paste - 1/2 Tsp
  • Curry leaves / Curry patta - A few finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Coriander powder / Dhaniya powder - 1 Tsp
  • Cumin seeds powder / Jeera powder - 1 Tsp
  • Salt / Namak - As per taste
  • Oil / Tel - 1 Tbsp
  • Water / pani - As required
  • Clarified butter / Ghee - As required
  • Tsp = Teaspoon
  • Tbsp = Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Firstly, take whole wheat flour in a bowl. Add green chilli paste, ginger paste, curry leaves, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds powder, salt, and oil. Mix well.
  2. Now add water gradually and knead the medium-hard dough.
  3. Now take a small ball sized dough and make round shaped circular peda from the dough and make medium thick bhakri.
  4. Make an indentation on bhakri using the top side of rolling pin.
  5. Meanwhile, heat a tawa. Grease it with ghee and place the bhakri on the tawa. Cook from one side on low flame.
  6. Flip it once it is slightly brown. Roast it on low flame. Now keep the flame high and press the bhakri while cooking it until it becomes nice golden brown from both sides.
  7. Once done. Take it out to the serving plate and apply ghee to it. Likewise, prepare another bhakri.
  8. 'Masala Bhakri | Gujarati Masala Bhakhri' is ready to be served.
