Masaledaar Aloo is a simple and spicy Indian recipe. A flavourful spicy Aloo recipe tossed in spices to serve for your next weekend party or simple comfort meal. Boiled potatoes stir-fried and tossed into aromatic spices to make a perfect dish. A 5-minute effort in the recipe and you will end up with a rich and yummy sabzi that will get polished off in no time. This recipe is not only, spicy and flavourful, but quick and easy too. You cannot stop eating when you have a tray full of these aloo staring at you.   • Prefer to cut boiled potato medium-sized into halves as it gives more surface area for masala coating which means more flavor and spicier.
  • Store dry masala in an airtight container in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
  • Do not add water while preparing the dry masala.

Ingredients

  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Kalonji/nigella Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds / jeera - 1 teaspoon
  • Hing/asafoetida- a pinch
  • Ginger paste - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garlic paste - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Boiled Aloo/potato - 2 big sizes chopped
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - as required
  • Methi seeds/fenugreek - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Saunf/fennel seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Kashmiri Red chili - 2 to 3
  • Chaat masala - 1/4 teaspoon (as required)
  • Lemon - 1/2 lemon juice
  • Coriander leaves - 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add kalonji, cumin seeds, hing, ginger, and garlic paste. Mix it.
  3. Add boiled aloo. Keep the flame to medium. Saute it.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix it well.
  5. Meanwhile, the aloo is being cooked, we will make dry masala.
  6. For the dry masala, we need to add methi seeds, saunf, mustard seeds, and red chilies to a mixer jar. Grind it.
  7. Add 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of the ground mixture into the aloo.
  8. Add chaat masala, lemon juice, and coriander leaves. Mix it well.
  9. Transfer it to a serving bowl.
  10. Delicious Masala Aloo is ready to be served.
