Matar Ki Kachori | Peas Kachori is the famous street food of Kolkata.

Matar Ki Kachori | Peas Kachori is a nice flavorful dish. You just need green peas, maida, semolina, and some spices to make this delicious dish. Moreover, you can serve it for lunch and dinner. Ingredients

  • Green peas - 1 Cup
  • Water - As required
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 1
  • Ginger / Adarak - 1/2 Inch
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp + For frying
  • Gram flour / Besan - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder / Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/4 tsp
  • All spice mix powder / Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
  • Dry mango powder / Aamchur - 1/2 tsp
  • Chaat masala - 1/4 tsp
  • Black salt / Kala namak - 1/4 tsp
  • All purpose flour / Maida - 1 Cup
  • Semolina / Sooji - 1 Cup
  • Clarified butter / Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
  • Lukewarm water - As required
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a pan. Add green peas, salt, and sugar. Boil it for 3 to 4 minutes on medium flame. Then strain the green peas.
  2. Take boiled green peas in a grinding jar. Add green chilli, ginger, cumin seeds, and little water. Grind it for a few seconds and prepare its fine paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add the prepared green peas paste. Mix well. Add gram flour, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, all spice mix powder, dry mango powder, chaat masala, and black salt. Mix well.
  4. Saute it for 5 to 6 minutes on low flame till the mixture becomes dry. Keep stirring continuously.
  5. Once done, keep it aside and let it cool down.
  6. Now take all purpose flour and sooji in a bowl. Add ghee, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Now add lukewarm water gradually and prepare a medium soft dough. Keep it aside and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  8. Take a small ball sized part of the dough and flatten it. Dust it with flour and roll it to make small poori. Now add green peas stuffing in the center of it. Then seal the ends of it to prepare a round shaped peda.
  9. Now dust it with flour and roll it to make kachori. Likewise, prepare all kachori.
  10. Meanwhile, heat the oil for frying the kachori. When the oil is hot, place kachori in oil and fry it on a medium to high flame.
  11. Deep fry until it turns golden brown from both sides, and take it out to a serving plate. Likewise, fry all kachori.
  12. 'Matar Ki Kachori | Peas Kachori' is ready to be served with aloo ki sabji.
