Matar Paneer | Restaurant Style Matar Paneer is a mouthwatering curry. 

Matar Paneer | Restaurant Style Matar Paneer is one of the favourite curries of paneer/cottage. This is a very popular and lovable curry across India. The paneer/cottage cheese and matar/green peas are cooked in the onion-tomato based gravy. You just need fewer ingredients to make this curry. Moreover, this does not require much time to cook and preparation. The secret ingredient adds thickness to the gravy to make it restaurant style curry. This goes well with chapati or naan or tandoori roti or paratha or even with rice. Everyone will love this curry at home. So, try to make this sabji at home and enjoy with your family and friends.

Ingredients

  • Paneer/Cottage cheese - 200 grams
  • Green Peas/Matar - 1 cup parboiled (cooked for 1 whistle or boiled for 5 to 10 minutes)
  • Onion - 1 big sized, chopped
  • Tomato - 4 big sized, chopped
  • Garlic - 4 to 5 cloves
  • Green chilli - 1, chopped
  • Ginger - ½ inch piece chopped
  • Cumin/Jeera - 1 Teaspoon
  • Besan/Gram flour - 1 Tablespoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1 & 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Roasted cumin powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala/All Spice Mix - 1 Teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 Tablespoon + 2 Tablespoon
  • Coriander leaves - as required for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoon oil in a pan.
  2. Add garlic, green chilli and ginger. Sauté for few seconds.
  3. Then add chopped onion and sauté for few seconds.
  4. Add chopped tomato and a little salt. Mix well and cook for a minute. Then add 1 cup water and let it boil on a high flame.
  5. Cover and cook it for about 5 minutes or until tomatoes are soft. Stir it in between while cooking. Then, turn off the flame and let it cool completely. Grind it to make smooth paste.
  6. Now, heat 2 tablespoon oil in the same pan.
  7. Add cumin seeds and let the seeds crackle.
  8. Add besan/gram flour and roast it for a minute.
  9. Then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder. Mix well and sauté on a low flame.
  10. Add ground onion-tomato paste. Mix well and cook on a high flame.
  11. Add boiled green peas, salt, garam masala/all spice mix, and sugar. Mix well, cover and let it boil on a high flame.
  12. Add paneer cubes, mix well and cook on a high flame for a minute. Then switch off the flame. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  13. Delicious 'Matar Paneer | Restaurant Style Matar Paneer' is ready to be served.
