Mavinakayi Nellikai Chitrana | Amla Mango Rice is a sour and spicy nutritious dish.

Mavinakayi Nellikai Chitrana | Amla Mango Rice is one pot meal. This is an immunity booster recipe loaded with the richness of vitamin C. You can prepare it from gooseberry, raw mango, dry red chilli, rice, peanuts, and some spices. This dish is easy to make and tasty as well as healthy. Generally, you can serve it by itself without any side dish but also tastes great with plain raita and dal. Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING DRY RED CHILLI PASTE :
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds / Methi dana - A pinch
  • Dry red chilli / Sukhi lala mirchi - 8 to 10
  • Curry leaves / Curry patta - A few
  • Asafoetida / Hing - A pinch
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Gooseberry / Amla - 2 Chopped
  • Raw mango / Kachcha aam - 1/2 Cup chopped
  • FOR PREPARING AMLA MANGO RICE :
  • Oil - 3 to 4 tsp
  • Mustard seeds / Rai - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Roasted peanuts / Mungfali - 2 tbsp
  • Black gram / Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Bengal gram / Chana dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilli / Sukhi lal mirchi - 1 Cut into small pieces
  • Asafoetida / Hing - A pinch
  • Cooked rice / Pake huye chawal - 3 Cups
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING DRY RED CHILLI PASTE :
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add fenugreek seeds and dry red chilli. Mix well and roast it for a few seconds on medium flame.
  3. Further, add curry leaves and asafoetida. Mix well. Roast it for 1 to 2 minutes on medium flame.
  4. Transfer it to a grinding jar. Add salt. Grind it for a few seconds and prepare its paste.
  5. Now add gooseberry and mango pieces. Grind it for a few seconds and prepare its coarsely ground paste. Keep it aside.
  6. FOR PREPARING AMLA MANGO RICE :
  7. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, roasted peanuts, black gram, bengal gram, turmeric powder, and dry red chilli. Mix well. Roast it for a few seconds. Add curry leaves. Mix well.
  8. Further, add asafoetida and the ground paste of gooseberry and raw mango. Mix well. Roast it for 2 to 3 minutes on medium flame.
  9. Now add cooked rice. Mix well. Add a little salt mix well and garnish it with coriander leaves. Once done, transfer it to a serving plate.
  10. 'Mavinakayi Nellikai Chitrana | Amla Mango Rice' is ready to be served.
