Methi Thepla | Gujarati Thepla is a very famous and very healthy dish for all.

Methi Thepla | Gujarati Thepla is a good way to include greens in the diet. This is very healthy and a mouthwatering snack and breakfast option. You can carry this thepla along with some pickle while travelling too. Learn to make very soft thepla by following tips and tricks. This thepla is very easy to prepare with easily available ingredients. You just require whole wheat flour, methi/fenugreek leaves, curd and some spices. They are quick to prepare that makes it an ideal tiffin option for kids as well as adults. You can have it with tea as a snack or with some pickle as a breakfast. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Knead a soft dough for the thepla.
  • Add spices according to your taste.
  • If you do not have fresh methi leaves then you can use dry methi leaves/kasuri methi.
  • Curd makes the thepla soft. If you are making the thepla for travelling purpose then do not add curd to it.
  • Roast the thepla on a high flame only to get a soft texture.

Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Flour - 2 Cup
  • Methi/Fenugreek Leaves - 1 Cup finely chopped
  • Curd - 1 to 2 Tablespoon
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece finely chopped or grated
  • Green chilli - 1 finely chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Coriander/Dhaniya powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Cumin/Jeera Powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 3 Teaspoon + as required for roasting

Instructions

  1. Wash and pat dry the methi/fenugreek leaves. Then chop it finely.
  2. Take a bow and add whole wheat flour, chopped fenugreek leaves, curd, finely chopped ginger and green chilli, sesame seeds, turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder. Mix well and add 2 teaspoon oil. Mix well.
  3. Add water to make soft dough. Add 1 teaspoon oil and knead it well.
  4. Heat a tawa for roasting the thepla.
  5. Take a dough ball and dust it with a flour. Roll it thin to make thepla. Roast the thepla on a high flame.
  6. Once it gets roasted little bit from both the sides, apply oil and roast. Once done, take it out on a plate.
  7. Delicious '' is ready to be served.
