Moonglet is famous street food in Delhi.

Moonglet is a tasty protein-rich dish. You can prepare it very fast with moong dal batter, some vegetables, and spices. It is spicy and healthy for kids as well as elders. Moreover, it is soft and fluffy inside, crispy outside. This is basically a fluffy version of moong dal cheela or Indian pancake.  It is loaded with protein and is ideal for all the weight watchers out there. Ingredients

  • Yellow gram / Moong dal - 1 Cup
  • Semolina / Sooji - 2 Tablespoon
  • Ginger green chili paste / Adrakh hari mirchi paste - 1 Teaspoon
  • Capsicum - 1 Finely chopped
  • Onion / Pyaz - 1 Finely chopped
  • Carrot - 1 Finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - A handful
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds powder / Jeera powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Fruit salt - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Water - As required
  • Oil - As required
  • Red chili powder / Lal mirchi powder - As required
  • Butter - As required

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak moong dal for 2 hours. Drain water and grind it to a coarse/daradara paste. Grind semolina too.
  2. Take ground moong dal into a bowl. Add semolina, ginger green chili paste, capsicum, onion, carrot, coriander leaves, salt, turmeric powder, cumin seeds powder. Mix well.
  3. Add fruit salt. Pour some drops of water on the fruit salt. Mix well. Prepare medium thick consistency batter.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Add Batter and spread it evenly in the pan.
  5. Sprinkle red chili powder, carrot, onion, and coriander leaves on the moonglate. Pour some oil on it. Cover it with lid. Let it cook on low flame for 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. After 10 minutes when moonglet leaves the pan. Put plate on the pan and turn pan to the plate and take out Moonglet into serving plate. Add butter and cut it into pieces.
  7. Moonglet is ready to serve.
